BIDYOKE is a rousing portrait of a beloved Filipino karaoke-restaurant in National City, California, that has since closed its doors. We join a spirited assortment of patrons and DJs in this electric immigrant space, reminiscing through classic ballads deep into the night.
Joseph Mangat is a Filipino filmmaker based in Brooklyn and Manila. He holds an MFA in TV, Film and New Media from San Diego State University where he received the Student Emmy Award. In 2016, he was invited to the Uniondocs and Rockefeller Brothers residency. In 2019, he was part of the Film Development Council of the Philippines. That same year, he was selected as one of 15 emerging filmmakers by Berlinale Talents – Tokyo. He is currently completing his first feature-length documentary titled Holy Craft.
