On her sixteenth birthday, DI VILLANUEVA is faced with an ASWANG—an evil mythical creature of Filipino folklore—which pushes her to confront the roots she has tried so hard to ignore.
Rialin José (pronounced RY-lin ho-ZAY) is a Chicago-based filmmaker and illustrator. As a first-generation Filipino American, Rialin strives to tell stories that reflect her background and honor her roots. Recently her work has been featured in exhibitions at the Zhou B Art Center in Chicago. She is a graduate of Columbia College Chicago with a degree in film.
